Transform performance in the workplace

QA supports the Moving Learning 2006 seminar on 14 June

QA | London, UK | 14 april 2006

Organisational learning is changing, and training professionals are increasingly being asked to provide a new type service to their organisation. With a growing acceptance that learning should directly raise performance in the workplace, it is critical for managers to keep pace with trends in the industry and be able to challenge traditional thinking.

This year’s Moving Learning event, supported by QA, LearningGuide and Microsoft, aims to provoke, educate and inspire managers of organisational learning with presentations, interactive discussions and case studies. The one-day seminar will give attendees the chance to explore a range of important themes, including current trends in learning, strategy formulation and informal learning.

Amongst the speakers on the day will be Gordon Bull, Managing Director of Learning Forte, and former Director of Global Learning Management at Vodafone. Gordon’s presentation will highlight the journey necessary for companies to move from training provision being a cost centre to added value learning as a business improvement process. Learning Consultant at QA Richard Hordern will also discuss strategies and initiatives that will help make this transition. The presentation will provide insight into where the organisational learning function should be going in the future.

Gordon explains; “Transitioning from the typical training department, often well versed in running courses, to an internal business improvement partner is a long and difficult journey. Often you find that the training team lacks the skills required to make the transition, yet you can’t hire the right talent in, simply because it often does not exist in the market in sufficient quantities. Your journey of transformation therefore is a multi-disciplined approach across the whole spectrum of staff development, learning and learning technologies.”

Other speakers will include Bob Mosher, Director of Strategy and Evangelism for Microsoft Learning; Allison Rossett, Professor of Educational Technology at San Diego State University; and Kent Barnett, CEO of Knowledge Advisors.

The seminar will take place on June 14, 2006 at Microsoft’s Thames Valley Park headquarters. Full details of the event can be found on the website or by contacting Lyndsey@movinglearning.com.
